The 2019 Inquiry Fellowship is for artists living in Los Angeles. We require openness to new ideas, a desire to be a part of a learning community, and a commitment to your creative practice.

What is the Inquiry Fellowship?

Fellows will come together for an evening-time session with the best thinkers and scholars in the greater Los Angeles area, delve deeply into ancient Jewish texts, ask questions, consider their own practice in light of communal histories, and share ideas and an intellectual space. The fellowship will complement your schedule and fit into your busy life. Fellows are not required to create new work, but to share their practice and ideas. The program is designed to encourage exploration and learning, while developing the meeting points between your work and the broader cultural context that informs it and inspires you. Our goal is to open doors for artists, connecting them to current conversations reflecting and challenging Jewish ideas. Between sessions, we encourage cohort members to build relationships with other fellows through work-sharing, attending openings and performances, and other types of community building. Inquiry fellows are also introduced in to the great and ever-growing IJC community, which encompasses Jewish artists and creatives from across LA.
