Program Structure & Format

Do your programs include summer semesters?
Yes. All programs include an 8-week summer semester, along with 15–16 week fall and spring semesters. For a full academic breakdown, please consult our Academic Calendar.

What is the format of your online programs? When do live sessions take place?
All programs are fully online and include live sessions via zoom and asynchronous practicums for the BA and MA programs. Meeting times vary by program:

Are there any in-person requirements or residencies?
The doctoral programs include a 5-day, in-person intensive held each May at our Brandeis Bardin Campus in Simi Valley, CA. All other programs are fully online with no residency requirement.

Do you offer any in-person programs or opportunities?
While our degree programs are fully online, we occasionally offer optional in-person learning experiences. Contact us for the latest offerings.
Admissions and Application

What are the admission prerequisites?

BA in ECE: An associate’s degree or 60 semester units from an accredited institution.

MA programs: A completed bachelor’s degree.

Doctoral programs: A completed master’s degree.

What materials are required for the application?
Requirements include transcripts, letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and a resume/CV. See the "Apply Now" section of each program’s webpage for complete details.

How do I apply?
Applications can be submitted online through the “Apply Now” link on each program page.

When do applications open?
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with priority consideration given to those submitted before December 31.

Is there an application fee?
Yes, the fee is $50.

How long does it take to receive an admissions decision?
Admissions decisions are typically made within a few weeks of receiving a completed application.

When does the school year start? Can I start the program mid-year?
The school year always starts in Fall. Our program cannot be started mid-year.

Can I defer admission if I’m accepted but unable to start immediately?

Can international students apply?
Yes. Our programs are open to international applicants. Please contact us for specific guidelines and support for international students.

Do I need to be Jewish to apply?
No. We welcome students of all backgrounds and faiths. While some coursework explores Jewish values, prior knowledge or affiliation is not required. Read AJU's Diversity Statement.

How long will it take me to obtain my degree?

BA : 6 semesters, including two summers

BA and MA programs: 2 courses + 1 practicum (asynchronous) per semester

Do I need to work in the education field to pursue these programs?
To pursue our master's and doctoral programs, we require students to be working in an educational setting at least 10 hours a week.

Yes! If you have some college credit or an associate’s degree, our BA Completion in Early Childhood Education is ideal for working adults looking to grow in the field. If you’re new to college entirely, you must meet the university’s general admission requirements.

You’ll need a reliable internet connection, a computer with video conferencing capability. We will share access to other tools as needed.
