Ancient Judaism

Tuesdays, 12:30pm-2pm PDT

Prerequisite Note: Due to the virtual setting of this class, you must have computer capability, including internet access, in order to participate. A camera is also optimal but not required.

In this class we will explore the origin of the Israelites and look at Jewish history through the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE.

Along the way we will look at other civilizations--the Sumerians, the Assyrians, the Babylonians, the Medes and the Persians--all of whom played a part in Jewish history as well as the important figures of Sennacherib, Alexander the Great, Nebuchadnezzar, Cyrus, Cleopatra, and Herod to name a few.

We will look at what the Hebrew Bible tells us, what Josephus tells us, and what archeology can tell us about this fascinating period of Jewish history.

Join us for lots of interesting discussion and learning!
