In Lawrence Wright‘s new novel, The Human Scale, an Arab-American FBI agent and an Israeli cop team up to investigate the murder of an Israeli police chief, culminating during the events on October 7 and 8, 2023. Wright will join AJU’s Rick Richman to discuss this gripping thriller, which draws on Wright’s decades of journalism in the region. Lawrence Wright is a staff writer for The New Yorker, a playwright, a screenwriter, and the author of ten books of nonfiction, including The Looming Tower, Going Clear, and God Save Texas, and one previous novel, God’s Favorite. His books have received many honors, including a Pulitzer Prize for The Looming Tower. His most recent release, The Human Scale, came out in March of 2025.
Rick Richman is a resident scholar at American Jewish University and the author of Racing Against History: The 1940 Campaign for a Jewish Army to Fight Hitler. He graduated with honors from Harvard College and New York University Law School. He has written for Commentary, The Jewish Journal, The Jewish Review of Books, Mosaic Magazine, The New York Post, The New York Sun and other publications, and is the author of the chapter on American Zionism in What America Owes the Jews, What Jews Owe America.
