The Whizin Center for Continuing Education welcomes Jordan Reimer, policy analyst and political scientist, to AJU.
The Middle East today is beset by conflict, as simultaneous and overlapping wars stretching from Libya to Syria to Yemen have destabilized the region. The potential of war between Iran and the US threatens to plunge it into further chaos even as Israel builds ties with the Arab world. From Iran's regional ambitions to its nuclear activities, Jordan will explore the dimensions of Iran's position in the Middle East, US policy to confront it, and the unique threats and opportunities that the current dynamic presents to Israel and the future of the region.
Jordan Reimer is currently a policy analyst at RAND in the defense and political sciences department. He has an MPA from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University and studied in Egypt and Yemen. He served as a policymaker at the Department of Defense under two administrations, focusing on Iraq, Iran, and the Arabian Peninsula. Before RAND, Jordan was an intelligence analyst at the New York City Police Department, working on counter-terrorism investigations with a nexus to ISIS, Iran, and domestic extremists. He is also a course instructor on conflict and insurgency in the post-Arab Spring Middle East, including at New York University.
