The Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha with Rabbi Mark Goodman

Prerequisite Note: Due to the virtual setting of this class, you must have computer capability, including internet access, in order to participate. A camera is also optimal but not required.

During the canonization period of the Hebrew Bible, the rabbis had to choose which material they would include in the Bible and which they would reject. In this class we will look at examples of material they ultimately rejected for canonization. We will look at the books of Tobit, Judith, Maccabees, Jubilees, and Enoch among others as we examine what it was about this material that the rabbis found objectionable for canonization. Join us for lively and fun discussion of some of the lesser known material of our tradition.
