Portraiture and Head Drawing for High School Students

In this course, students learn to draw the head in terms of three-dimensional form in space. Anatomy and the placement of features are discussed with regard to proportion and perspective. Understanding the structure of the head enables us to analyze light, shadow and color when moving from drawing into painting. The capturing of a likeness as well as the creation of character through expression and costume are considered.

Ken Jones received his BA in Art from California State University, Northridge with additional studies in figure drawing under Karl Gnass and Glenn Villpu. He has been teaching figure drawing at CSUN since 1996.

Sun 2-5pm | Sep 8-Nov 17 (no class Sep 29) | 10 sessions | $395
