Event Details
King Lear emerged from Shakespeare's mature imagination in 1606, as a vessel of the playwright's acquired wisdom. The aging Lear insists on being mothered by his children and stubbornly resists knowing the consequences of his own folly. As Lear loses his grip on reality, the play becomes a character study of those who push him toward his tragic end and those who try to save him. We will discover the play's meaning and understanding Shakespeare's language.
