Event Details
In this class we will examine the history of the Jewish people beginning in the Medieval period through the turn of the 20th century. We will compare how Jewish communities fared under Christianity and under Islam from 600 C.E. to the mid-1700s and, moving in the modern period, how the Haskalah (Jewish Enlightenment, c. 1780) challenged traditional Judaism, changing the dynamics of Jewish life both in Europe and America.
