Event Details

The Jewish Genealogical Society of Los Angeles will honor the life of prominent Austrian-born actress and inventor, Hedy Lamarr, and induct her into the Jewish-American Hall of Fame.

A medal honoring Hedy Lamarr will be presented to her son, Anthony Loder, who will speak about his mother. The program will include a reading of the prize-winning essay in the 2017 Norman Alexander Award for Excellence in Jewish Student Writing: “Hedy Lamarr, Beauty and the Brain.” The essay was written by Sonya Kest of YULA Girls High School in Los Angeles, and will be read by Katie Kest. There will also be a showing of various short film clips about Hedy, including one made by her son Anthony.

Presented with the Jewish Genealogical Society of Los Angeles and the Jewish-American Hall of Fame.
