Event Details

Join us for Churchill and the Jews, an evening discussion with Dr. Michael Berenbaum, Director, Sigi Ziering Institute for Holocaust Studies and Professor of Jewish Studies, AJU.

Not far from the Western Wall, an oversized bust of Winston Churchill overlooks the Old City of Jerusalem, erected to commemorate his support of the Jewish people and Zionism.

Dr. Berenbaum will discuss Churchill’s relationship with Jews, so out of sync with the fashionable anti-Semitism of his time and station, as well as his struggles against government bureaucrats to assist Jewish refugees and establish a Jewish homeland.

This lecture is made possible through the generosity of The Dr. Joseph (z"l) and Rose Mary Shuchart (z"l) Backlar Memorial Lectureship.
