Event Details

Join Arts at AJU’s Chief Curator, Rotem Rozental, for a special tour of  היהיה, Eli Petel’s site-specific project at House of the Book, part of the exhibition Broken Cisterns (on view at AJU until November 12, co-curated with Rotem Rozental and Leah Abir).

The Hebrew word היהיה, which loosely translates as “Could It Be” and combines past, present and future tenses as well as the letters indicating God’s name, is installed in the interior and exterior of the House of the Book through the application of dozens of plastic beads. The scale and spread of the installation across the site’s topography invites the viewer to reside within a word without being able to read it.

The tour will include an exploration of the architecture and history of House of the Book, a Sidney Eisenshtat designed, Brutalist, concrete masterstroke, nestled in the lush fields of a 2,700 acre campus in Simi Valley.
