There is a well-founded, widely shared and well documented consensus that antisemitism is on the rise globally and nationally. This makes understanding antisemitism ever more urgent.
This four-session course will explore Christian and Moslem, political antisemitism and Nazi racial antisemitism historically as well as the prevailing myth that were developed to support it. It will consider contemporary antisemitism in the United States and globally as well as antisemitism on the Right and on the Left, anti-Zionism and antisemitism on the Web and in the social media and assess some strategies for combatting antisemitism.
As the United States grapples with four simultaneous crises: health and economic, social justice and leadership, the only thing we know for sure is that antisemitism, along with other hatreds, will only intensify. A wise community understands the past and prepares for the future.
