The Academic Hebrew department oversees Hebrew instruction for students enrolled/enrolling in the undergraduate Jewish Studies program, the Graduate Center for Jewish Education or the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies. In addition, the department runs the summer Ulpan program, which is open to college students from any university who seeks additional Hebrew study for college credit.
All incoming AJU students who are in programs with a Hebrew language requirement, or the summer Ulpan program, must undergo an assessment exam prior to beginning their program. The Hebrew Program Coordinator will work with each student to determine their existing Hebrew knowledge, and plan a course of study to support their growth and comprehension of Hebrew.
