
Ziony Zevit
Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biblical Literature and Northwest Semitic Languages

Ziony Zevit is a distinguished scholar of biblical literature and Northwest Semitic languages. He received his B.A. from the University of Southern California in 1964 and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1974. That same year, he joined the faculty of American Jewish University, where he taught for decades and became a leading voice in the study of ancient Israelite religion and biblical texts. Zevit is Professor Emeritus of Biblical Literature and Northwest Semitic Languages at American Jewish University. His scholarship spans biblical interpretation, Hebrew linguistics, and the religions of ancient Israel, and he has published numerous influential works in the field.
