Join attorneys Omar Qudrat and Sam Yebri, in conversation with Dr. Jeffrey Herbst, President of American Jewish University, for a timely and bold conversation about Iran and America. Together, they will delve into the revolutionary powers at play in Iran, how Iran challenges post World War II order and political norms, and what Iran's influence means for America, Israel and the people of the world.  


Photo of Omar QudratOmar Qudrat is an attorney. He began his career as a law and graduate student in the personal internship program of the co-founder of The Carlyle Group. Omar stayed on post-internship as a Business Development & Legal Affairs Consultant, working on innovation incubation, intellectual property acquisition, and emerging markets. Omar joined the U.S. Department of Defense in 2010 as a civilian official. He spent 18 months during the surge in Afghanistan. Upon returning to the U.S., Omar became a counter-terrorism prosecutor. He participated in and led overseas investigations of captured terrorist network leaders. While detailed to the State Department, Omar negotiated security agreements with foreign nations. He won a six-way primary to secure the Republican Party’s nomination for U.S. Congress last cycle. Born in Los Angeles, Omar is the son of immigrants from Afghanistan.

Photo of Sam YebriSam S. Yebri is a partner at Merino Yebri LLP and experienced trial lawyer representing employees, consumers, and small businesses and counseling a broad spectrum of media, technology, and real estate companies. In 2007, Sam co-founded 30 Years After, a grassroots civic organization that has engaged more than 10,000 Iranian-American Jews in American civic and Jewish life. Sam currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Bet Tzedek Legal Services, the Builders of Jewish Education, the Jewish Community Foundation (where he serves as the Chair of the Cutting Edge Grants Committee), and ETTA (an organization providing housing and support services to developmentally disabled Jews). Sam is a graduate of the Wexner Heritage Fellowship. Sam has authored articles that have appeared in the Huffington Post, Jewish Journal, and Los Angeles Lawyer. He has also been interviewed by the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN, KPCC, and KCRW. At the age of one, Sam fled with his family to the United States from Iran as refugees. He graduated from Yale University and the University of Southern California School of Law.
