How Do I Take Exams Online?

Learning online is a convenient way to get an education. But what happens when it's time to take an exam? How can we keep a level of academic integrity while still giving students the level of convenience that sets AJU apart?

Online Proctoring Makes it EASY!

In 2008, Andrew Jackson University announced a pilot program to give students the ability to take exams anywhere, using a web cam to connect them to a proctor at the University.

"It was very convenient and easy to use," said Terence Hughes, an AJU student.

Here's How It Works:

  1. Sign up for internet proctoring with Student Services. The system works with any web cam, and does not require any software to be installed. If you do not have a web cam, we can help you obtain one.

  2. When you are ready to take your first exam, schedule a time with Student Services. You will receive an email confirming your exam appointment with a link to your online testing room.

  3. When your exam is scheduled to begin, click on the link in the email you are sent. You will see a page that looks like this:

  4. Before you can connect to your proctor, you will hit the "call proctor" button, and wait for your proctor to connect. Type your full name into the chat window to the right and you are ready to begin. You and your proctor will be able to communicate through the microphones in your web cam, through the text box, or via telephone.

  5. Your proctor will ask for you to show a government I.D. and to scan your surroundings with your web cam. Once you have done so, he or she will give you your exam pass code. Open another browser window, navigate to your exam in myClassroom, and enter in your pass code when prompted. If you have questions during your exam, return to the proctor page and ask for assistance.
